David Beckham honoured with gay icon status

The famous footballer David Beckham has reportedly spoken of his honour to be classed as a worldwide gay icon.
The former Man United star, now playing for America's LA Galaxy, has gathered rather a large following amongst the gay community especially since he stripped off posing in underwear for Giorgio Armani's international billboard campaign. In the £9.77 million advertising deal, Beckham reports that there was no digital enhancement done to his bulge (not that there would be any complaining if there was!).
In an interview with lifestyle magazine GQ, Beckham stated: "When people talk to me about being a gay icon I think of it as a great honour."
"To have that kind of effect on so many people around the world, I was honoured" he said.
It is not only Beckham's devilishly good looks and celebrity wife, Victoria, that make him such a hit amongst gay men, but also his interest in fashion.
Giorgio Armani himself said: "[David] represents a notion of modern masculinity, as a sports hero, husband and father. He is also a man with a great sense of style."
"There was a time when soccer players were not always considered to be fashion role models. David Beckham has helped to change that."
Always sharply dressed and looking immaculate, it seems that David Beckham's gay following is well-deserved and shows no sign of slowing.
