Former Culture Club frontman, Boy George, has appeared in court this week accused of unlawfully detaining a 29-year old man after he handcuffed him to his bedroom wall.
The 46 year old singer, whose real name is George O'Dowd, met male escort Audun Carlsen on social networking site Gaydar. The first time the pair met it was to partake in a pornographic photo shoot at Mr O'Dowd's home in London's Shoreditch. They reportedly took cocaine and engaged in sex acts but then, believing that computers in the house had been tampered with, Mr O'Dowd, accused Mr Carlsen of trying to hack into the system.
The younger man denied it and they parted on good terms although only £300 of the previously agreed £400 was paid to the escort. In the following months, they exchanged emails, many of which Mr Carlsen described as "bizarre" but following an apology from Boy George, he agreed to meet the singer again in April this year.
This time, the court heard, Mr O'Dowd chained Mr Carlsen to his bedroom wall, accusing him again of tampering with his computer. Managing to free himself, Mr Carlsen fled wearing only his boxer shorts, trainers and the handcuffs. He ran to a nearby newsagent's where he and the shopkeeper called the police.
The jury have been presented with photographs of the marks left on Mr Carlsen's arms by the handcuffs after the fire brigade managed to cut them off. Mr O'Dowd has denied all charges.
