Best male performance, best drama series, and best comedy were among the seven Emmy Awards picked up by British television producers at last night's International Award Ceremony in New York.
The UK's Channel 4 did particularly well, taking home four of the five awards it was nominated for. These included British actress Lucy Cohu for her performance in the Channel 4 and More4 child abuse drama Forgiven, and TalkbackThames sitcom The IT Crowd.
The Beckoning Silence, produced by Darlow Smithson for Channel 4, won best documentary while Ballet Boyz' show Strictly Bolshoi, won the arts category. The BBC managed to scoop up all three of its nominations with David Suchet winning best actor for his portrayal of the late Robert Maxwell in BBC4 drama Maxwell and BBC1's Life on Mars hailed as best drama series.
Shaun the Sheep, created by Oscar winner Nick Park, was named best kids show. In picking up seven awards, the UK managed to match its record from last year but it wasn't the only country with something to celebrate.
Argentina won its first ever International Emmy for Television por la Identidad, nominated in the best TV movie category and Jordon got its first taste of Emmy victory in the brand new telenovela category, awarded to Al-Igtiyah (The Invasion).
