When it comes to fine dining and attention to detail, Covent Garden's Clos Maggiore have got it down to a T.

We arrived a little earlier that anticipated but there was no waiting as the waitress whisked us off to our table. We were sat in the dreamy conservatory which allows ample amounts of sunshine to spill across the tables without making the experience uncomfortably hot.

The staff were polite, friendly and welcoming, always anticipating what you wanted and never leaving your glass go empty. Choosing a bottle of wine is one of the most daunting experiences I’ve ever had to go through at Clos Maggiore. The wine menu is the size of the yellow pages, so it is probably best to simply ask what is recommended, as the staff's wine knowledge is extremely extensive.

We tried the 'tasting menu' which provided a plethora of dishes from pigeon and foie gras to scallops. The presentation of the food was superb and the staff were always willing to explain what the dish included if there was any doubt. Although the portions look deceptively small, you won’t be complaining of hunger once the dessert comes, trust me.

Elegance is the word I would use to describe the entire experience. The meat was done to perfection and the surroundings were expertly comfortable. My only qualm would be the tables are rather large, making it a little difficult for intimacy if on a romantic dinner.

Overall, Clos Maggiore is simply majestic.
