If you haven't heard of G-A-Y in London, you've been hiding away in a closet (!) for way too long. As the main G-A-Y nightclub has relocated to Heaven, G-A-Y Late has become the new centre of attention in London's gay scene.
Situated in an alley shooting off of Charing Cross Road, you would think you were heading to a sordid, fetish bar; but the flashing G-A-Y lights ooze campness , reassuring you that everything is going to be alright.
A favourite haunt throughout the week, the queues to get in can be quite long, which unfortunately (or fortunately) means that the effects of inebriation can wear off. Also, the strict entrance policy means that girls may find themselves turned away if not with a large group of gay guys.
Once inside, a cosy dance floor buzzes with activity on your left and plasma screens adorn the walls on your right. There is one bar in the venue staffed by drop dead gorgeous guys, serving reasonably priced drinks. Monday to Thursday nights see drinks promotions as low as £1.60.
G-A-Y Late is generally frequented by a younger crowd as pop and R n B tunes fill the ether. This venue is the perfect place for drinks after work or a great start to a crazy night out in Soho.
